Sound impossible? I won't claim that Videopia (the book) is comprehensive, but it is concise and efficient and explains what I believe to be relatively simple topics in very direct ways, unhindered by irrelevant complexities that tend to creep unnecessarily into most technical discussions, especially on the Internet. If you are a broadcast engineer or a Film School graduate, my guess is that you probably already know most of the material in this book, but I'll bet you've never heard these topics explained so clearly before. Then again, if you can't solve basic hyperfocal depth of field equations or are unsure how Fair Use applies to your educational videos, maybe the book does have something for you, too!
So if you want to know the real secret of the "Film Look" or why Hollywood films look like they do or need to know exactly how Fair Use works in practice, this book contains everything you need and nothing you don't. Technology, techniques and even a little art, Videopia: Video Production for the Internet Revolution is the single best book for anyone that wants to move beyond casual vacation videos and birthday parties into real cinematic storytelling. Videopia is more than just this book: it's supplementary videos, quizzes, an extensive, dynamic Website and an always friendly community of experts that never talks down to novices asking intelligent questions. We were ALL beginners at one point and none of this is intuitive, but with a little help from our friends, we can all - for the first time in history - learn to tell our story with motion pictures at a quality level that was, until last year, unimaginable.

I also have the complete Table of Contents, the entire Index and a couple of dozen random pages from inside the book available as a PDF here, which should give you an excellent idea of the breadth of the book and a taste of the actual content and style as well.
