Blu-ray Player Prices up $100 PDF Print E-mail

Mark Raby over at Tom's Hardware did a little price check of Blu-ray players using Pricegrabber.com data, which aggregates retail prices on the Internet. The results?

When Blu-ray was actively competing with HD DVD - and trying to aggressively kill it off - earlier this year you could get a standalone living room Blu-ray player for $300. Three months later, you'll probably pay a hundred dollars more.

Still, $400 is how much the players cost a year ago. And that's also about the same price as an entry-level PS3, which has always accounted for the majority of Blu-ray sales anyhow.

The flip side of this is nice though: you can grab a Toshiba HD-A3 HD DVD player (with SD DVD-Video upscaling, hint hint) for $80.
