The YouTube Video Awards for 2007 have been announced:

The awards are based on viewer votes and ratings, so it's definitely a case of mob rule and the actual quality of the videos that won is, well, marginal. Definitely a pure popularity contest, which is pretty much how YouTube functions day to day anyhow. The staff at YouTube should compile a list of the year's best.

And, now that I think about it: What the hell? It's almost April, 2008.
