Firmware Hack for the Canon 5D Mark II PDF Print E-mail

Firmware hacks to enable a feature here or there are not uncommon, but modding the Canon 5D Mark II to add audio meters, turn off the AGC and add zebra exposure stripes is really something else:

Amazing but true. Although I'm not entirely sure what good zebra stripes do if you can't adjust the exposure, the audio additions are really quite excellent, especially since the camera doesn't have a headphone jack, which makes monitoring impossible in the camera's default configuration. If you are willing to risk bricking your $2,700 camera, this is definitely the mod for you.
