Legit Reviews has a First Look at Alienware's new HD Media Servers, which feature a Blu-ray player/recorder and an HD DVR. If the quality of the video can match standalone Blu-ray players, then it only has two downsides. One, it's at least $5,000. Two, it runs Microsoft Vista. OK, I'm not going to bash Vista - I don't have a problem with it - but, honestly, outside of rich Silicon Valley nerd mansions, who has $5,000 (minimum!) to spend on a computer for the living room?! Wouldn't a $500 Playstation 3 do pretty much the same thing AND play cool games?

Legit Reviews hasn't actually reviewed the box yet. They just unpacked it. Cool, desirable, sexy computer, no question, but in the realm of home entertainment, I'm not sure anyone cares about that sort of stuff.
