OK, I'm a huge science nerd. And I've already plugged Slate V before. Multiple times. But I'm going to do it again now, because (a) the new Grand Unifed Weekly segment rocks and (b) it's about science.

The video production and style is really innovative, cool and watchable. They do a great job mixing in humor with headshot and I really love the simulated(?) Mac OS X. Wait. Is it simulated? My guess is it's a mix of screen caps, editing and composting, but the point is that it's really cool. The talent is reasonably charismatic and, well, very watchable. What more could you want? Lighting could be better and the nicest thing you can say about the audio is that it's clear, but coming from a guy that really struggles with audio, I think "clear" is a compliment.

The best part of Grand Unified Weekly is the content. I'm probably just gushing over the first show, but the writing is great and the analysis is brilliant. This isn't just a "This Week in Science, Scientists Discovered Some S*&t" show, but this episode, at least, dipped into more interesting process and deeper philosophy: "Being proved wrong is actually the normal manner in which science moves forward..." Brilliant!
